    Introduction PCL-847B:

PCL-846/847 series cards provide four independent RS-422/485
serial ports on a card. Each port has a 16C550 UART with an on-chip
16-byte FIFO buffer for reliable, high-speed serial I/O. The UART
buffers data into 16-byte packets before putting it on the bus. This
drastically reduces the CPU load and avoids data loss when the
system is busy and cannot process the interrupt quickly. The UART
is especially useful for high speed serial I/O under Windows.
PCL-846 cards differ from PCL-847 cards in that they utilize
on-board optical isolators to protect your PC and equipment against
damage from ground loops, increasing system reliability in harsh
environments. To further increase reliability, PCL-846B/847B cards
include surge protection technology, protecting your system from
abrupt high voltage surges (up to 3000 V) such as those caused by
    lightning during thunderstorms.
An RS-485 Network with Automatic Data Flow Control
    Using RS-232 Software
The RS-485 mode automatically senses the direction of incoming
data and switches its transmission direction accordingly. This feature
makes your network look and act just like an RS-232 network.
Application software written for half duplex RS-232 can be used
without modification. Moreover, you can simply and quickly build an
RS-485 network with just two wires.

    • General Information PCL-848A

    • Introduction to the Product PCL-848A

The PCL-848A/B IPSE-488 interface card is a valuable addition to your PC that allows you to communicate with over 2000 products, made by over 200 manufacturers, in over 14 countries. The IEEE- 488-1978 standard that this IEEE-488 card implements is the most widely used international standard for information transfer between computer and electronic instruments. There are numerous publications and articles that may be used in conjunction with this manual to assist you to understand the interface standard. The IEEE reference document may be ordered by writing to the IEEE Service Center, 445 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08854, USA.

The IEEE-488 interface card provides the hardware (electrical and mechanical) and software required for you to interface your PC to the IEEE-488 bus. The software is packaged in read-only-memory (firmware) to provide versatile and easy-to-use IEEE-488 function extensions for your current programming language or operating system. Firmware cannot be accidentally erased or overwritten and it is always available for use by application programs. This manual provided a programming reference (Section 3.) and programming techniques (Section 4. and 5.) to assist you in writing your own application programs.

The key features of this interface card include (PCL-848A) :

Operating in one of the two modes (switch selectable).

Mode A : Compatible with PCL-748 and use the on-board firmware driver.

Mode N : Software compatible with National Instrument PC-II and IBM-PC GP-IB adaptor and use the driver and software developed for them.

    • Implementation of the entire IEEE-488 PCL-848A
    • Powerful and  easy-to-use  software  command set. Fewer arguments and simple initialization.
    • Software driver  is in on-board firmware. Requires no additional disk operation when using BASIC or Turbo Pascal.
    • On-board RAM for working space. No system memory space is needed for the IEEE-488 interface operation.
    • Built-in 16 bit digital output port provides a convenient and economical solution for signal switching and digital control applications. The D/O port is compatible with the daughter boards: PCLD-785 Relay Output Board, PCLD-786 SSR & Relay Driver Board and PCL—789 Amplifier & Multiplexer Board.

    Introduction :
The PCL-849 series cards provide four individually configurable
RS-232 serial communication ports. The PCL-849A/849B/849L has a
16C554 UART which makes serial I/O more reliable. The higher
performance PCL-849+ has a 16C654 UART. By buffering data into
64-byte packets before putting it on the bus, UARTs drastically reduce
the CPU load. This makes the PCL-849+ especially suitable for high
speed serial I/O applications under multitasking environments.
The PCL-849 series cards support two operating modes, standard
mode and enhanced mode. In enhanced mode, the address for all four
ports can be set automatically. The PCL-849 series cards also support
either shared IRQ or independent IRQ functions. When an on-board
interrupt occurs, the interrupt status register (vector address) indicates
which port generated it. The shared interrupt can be set to most common
(extended) AT interrupts. This simplifies programming, speeds up
interrupt processing and frees up interrupts for other devices.

  • PCL-860 – 4 1/2 DIGIT VOLTMETER (Rev A2)

    350,00  Excl. VAT

    Introduction

The PCL-860 is a 4 1/2 digit DC/AC voltmeter card that plugs into any I/O slot of IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible computers. It provides all the features and accuracy you would expect from a bench-top voltmeter.
It uses the computer screen as its display and it takes one forth of the screen when activated. This size allows 4 separate PC’s instruments (including the PCL-860) display on the screen at same time. In addition, instead of using push-buttons on the instrument front panel,it uses the computer keyboard.

The PCL-860 provides a standard programmable DC current source. It can be used as a 4-wire resistance precision ohmmeter. The PCL-860 has also a build-in 16 bit digital output
